Automated Spot Welders

ASEMA International undertook the upgrade of two automated spot welding machines.  One was a single axis machine with dual electrodes, the other was a two-axis machine with a single electrode.  The upgrade included a complete replacement of the hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.  Servo motors were used for precise position control of the weld heads. 

The machines can be operated in manual or automatically modes.  In manual mode the operator uses a joystick to position the weld head and push button controls to initiate clamping and welding.  In automatic mode hundreds of weld coordinates can be entered via a spreadsheet and uploaded to the PLC.  The automatic sequence is then initiated and monitored via an LCD display.

Both machines have been in service since November 2003 and have provided our client with reliable, trouble free operation.
