Monorail Malaysia

ASEMA International have been intimately involved with the fledgling monorail manufacturers, Monorail Malaysia Technology. Assisting with all aspects of the vehicle design from the drive system to equipment mounting and structural analysis.

ASEMA's original involvement was in the design of the vehicle propulsion system. This was achieved in cooperation with Rockwell Automation and Rossi Gearmotors.

Run-time simulations performed by ASEMA International that incorporated all physical & environmental variables contributed to a drive package that allowed very efficient power regeneration down to zero speed.

Due to ASEMA's extensive rail experience and Finite Element (FEA) capabilities the contract was expanded to include the full structural analysis of the body structure and bogies.

This analysis involved the use of numerical analysis software that enabled modeling of the full structure.

To validate the theoretical calculations predicted in the FEA, full strain gauge testing was undertaken. The results confirmed conclusively the structural integrity of the monorail vehicles.

Fatigue and dynamic tests are presently being completed with the first stage of revenue operation expected around March 2003.
